    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Position will be responsible for serving as the technical expert to the global Safety & Risk Control (S&RC)   department concerning food safety exposures for all food and packaging products.  Individual will support S&RC to identify current state in the area of food safety; specifically manufacturing and develop and execute Aramark policies, programs and standards on a global basis to reduce risk.  Individual will be responsible for leading the development of strategic and tactical plans to drive continuous improvement and minimize exposure in the area of supply chain compliance as it relates to food safety from farm to fork. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Develop and/or maintain policies and procedures that met legal requirements for FDA and USDA facilities.
    • Facilitate, integrate and/or coordinate the development design, implementation and evaluation of identified quality improvement activities.
    • Lead the development of strategic plans in partnership with SCM and global S&RC teams to ensure the supply and delivery of consistently safe, quality food and packaging products.
    • Lead the development of the global food safety standards and procedures for the Aramark Distributor and Supplier program (Inc. third-party food services i.e., guest restaurants) in collaboration with SCM, global S&RC teams, functional departments and Operation teams.
    • Integrate and work with SCM on distributor/supplier risk management. Monitor the third party audit program, approval program, issue and recall management, performance reviews and scorecard. Conduct assessments and provide support, if required during alleged issues/complaints/product recalls.
    • Drive positive change, through working collaboratively with SCM and distributors/suppliers to analyze metrics results while collaborating with key stakeholders to identify potential problem areas in need of the development and implementation of continuous improvement plans.
    • Build solid cross-functional relationships with SCM, Global S&RC, functional departments and operations teams.
    • Assist Lines of Business/profit centers during any alleged supplier complaints or recalls.
    • Interact with external Food Safety communities, building strong relationships with regulatory and other groups relevant to food safety and identify opportunities to externally present Aramark’s food safety program.

    Support and/or present to LOB Leadership and Executives on status of food safety compliance and recommendations for improvement.

     

    STATUS AND SCOPE:

    Individual will have a direct reporting line to Director – Food Safety.  Must possess excellent communication, influencing and consultative skills with demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships from the Executive level to the front line.   Individual must be client focused with excellent strategic and change management skills to drive and sustain organizational change around food safety matters.  Individual must be a team player and able to collaboratively work with available resources to bring optimal solutions.

    Success in this position will also require excellent listening and needs assessment skills and ability to consistently deliver practical solutions to complex issues. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, food science or other food related field. 
    • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in food safety required within Food Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Operations. Sound understanding of supplier management, manufacturing and plant operations.
    • Thorough knowledge of Food Safety and Quality Systems, quality auditing procedures, FDA & USDA Regulations, Quality Regulations and GFSI Standards.
    • Experience in collaborative development, documentation, planning and implementation of continuous improvement programs.
    • Ability to manage multiple prioritization through effective project management skills.
    • Collaborative team player that inspires trust / confidence.

    Certifications in auditing, HACCP, Food Safety & Quality Systems, PCQI and project management are a plus.
