    Our Leisure group within SLC specializes in serving consumers; recreational and entertainment needs in national and state parks, zoos, aquariums, science centers, museums and other day-use cultural attractions.


    The scope of our operations includes operating lodging, conference and meeting space, houseboats and other marine activities, retail merchandise shops, fine dining restaurants, and interpretive tours in some of this country's most pristine protected lands and national parks.

    The Assistant Boat Rental Manager will assist in all aspects of boat rental functions including: daily operations, staff and leadership meetings, assisting in the training of all employees, housekeeping, and arrivals and departures. The Assistant Manager is responsible for creating a positive work environment while making sure all functions of the boat rentals operation run smoothly by holding team members accountable, ensuring guest satisfaction, and daily leadership. The Assistant Manager will also assist in all scheduling of employees, payroll, and disciplinary action and all other duties as assigned by Manager and Director of Boat Rentals. Individual should have competent computer skills, be willing to help out wherever needed and committed to delivering outstanding customer service. Shifts and days off vary according to business demand. Individual must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and on call shifts. Most work will be performed at the boat rentals dock.


    Essential Functions:

    • Will help management supervise arrivals/departures by ensuing all houseboats are turned at the back of house in a timely manner and that the front of house team is prepared for daily business.
    • Assist in all aspects of the boat rental office functions including checking guests in and out, finalizing guest paperwork; ensure all monies are collected from each guest, daily cash handling procedures and reporting, etc.
    • Assist in the training of office agents, instructors, dockhands, cleaners, porters, and cross training between these positions.
    • Ensure a safe working environment through daily chore assignments and safety meetings.
    • Help develop strong team morale through positive reinforcement, reward, and recognition through Encore Encore.
    • Effectively communicate with guests and employees by holding employees accountable through disciplinary action.
    • Employee must have high level of customer service skills to deal with a wide variety of issues that may arise. These issues should be handled appropriately through excellent customer service skills and ultimately represent Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas in a positive manner.
    • Handle guest service recovery issues on a daily basis with support of upper management.
    • Able to work with diverse populations in a supportive and positive manner.
    • Develop a strong knowledge of SMS reservation system.
    • Must be honest, dependable and forthright, with the ability to confidently work without direct supervision.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and be willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
    • The Assistant Boat Rentals Manager reports to the Manager and Director of boat rentals.
    • Must have strong organization and communication skills and be able to interact with a diverse workforce and customer base.
    • Employee should have an attention to detail focus and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
    • Assist in the success of a 6 million dollar operation.
    • Assist in the responsibility of 40 hourly employees 4 supervisors.



    • High School diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
    • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience.  Key experience in the following categories is a plus: customer service leadership, experience in transportation/logistics, warehouse operations or related operations.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain DOT certification to operate DOT regulated vehicles.
    • Ability to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the Market Center business in both the short and long term. 
    • Ability to communicate at high efficiency and effectiveness with clients, vendors, internal leadership and operations staff. 
    • Ability to respond quickly to changing demands. 
    • Strong customer service principles and practices are required. 
    • Personally organized and capable of handling multiple open inquiries simultaneously as well as interpersonal, team and partnering skills.
    • Fluent computer skills (MS Office suite) and the ability to learn new technologies (MEI/Salesforce).
